Hinckley Allen is committed to the advancement of racial equity and social justice. In 2021, the Diversity Equity & Inclusion Committee, in collaboration with the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Task Force, formed the Social Justice Initiative, to further our impact and contribute to racial equity and social justice in our communities and our industry.

This three-pronged approach brings together education, financial assistance, and community participation, which is intended to further social justice and racial equity in our communities by addressing race-based disparities in wealth, health, income, education and/or treatment under the law.

Education

We are proud to have initiated our Social Justice Initiative Series in 2022. This series is part of an effort to collectively commit to better educate ourselves on issues of social justice and racial equity.

Financial Support & Community Participation

To support our communities both financially and with our involvement, Hinckley Allen has established the Hinckley Allen Social Justice Fund (“the Fund”) at the Rhode Island Foundation. The Fund will allow the firm to make impactful gifts to eligible non-profit organizations and help contribute to racial equity and social justice in our communities and our industry.

Hinckley Allen will use the Fund as a way to establish meaningful partnerships with a small number of select non-profit organizations in our communities to support their efforts to further social justice and racial equity.  Unlike the support Hinckley Allen gives to many charitable organizations on an annual basis through financial contributions and event sponsorships, the Fund allows us to provide a more targeted initiative intended to maximize our impact by investing a greater level of financial and human capital in a small number of organizations with a mission and record of furthering social justice and racial equity.  We seek to develop close relationships with our grantees, leveraging the resources, stakeholders and experience of the firm to support their efforts.

If you are interested in applying to become a grantee, read our program brochure to explore more about the program, its eligibility criteria, and the application process. The deadline to submit is Monday, September 30, 2024.
