Recognition of the Firm’s Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace
Hinckley Allen announced today that it has achieved Mansfield Certification. Mansfield Certification is conferred upon law firms that affirmatively consider historically under-represented candidates — women, attorneys of color, LGBTQ+ attorneys, and lawyers with disabilities — for recruiting, leadership roles, equity partner promotions, and inclusion in client pitches.
The Mansfield Certification, facilitated by Diversity Lab, is the result of a nearly two-year certification process for Hinckley Allen that began in September 2021 and is part of the law firm’s ongoing commitment to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
“Earning Mansfield Rule Certification is just one aspect of Hinckley Allen’s dedication to addressing social and racial inequities in our workplace and our communities. Every day we demonstrate this dedication both internally through groups like our Women’s Forum and externally through the Hinckley Allen Social Justice Fund, along with many other initiatives,” said Noble F. Allen, Partner, and Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
As illustrated in this recent American Lawyer article, an extensive analysis by two data science professors shows Mansfield is succeeding at its intended purpose to diversify leadership at law firms that stay committed to DEI for the long term. The firm looks forward to continuing its important work with Diversity Lab through continued education and other efforts.
“The Mansfield Rule is critical to ensuring that law firms are making sustainable, significant progress toward a diverse legal workforce. At Hinckley Allen, we know that a culture of inclusivity is part of our commitment to delivering exemplary client service. We are proud to be a firm where diversity is celebrated and promoted,” said Patrick A. Rogers, Managing Partner.
During the 18-month collaboration with Diversity Lab, Hinckley Allen tracked and measured diversity in leadership and hiring. This certification has become the gold standard by which law firms demonstrate their affirmative consideration of female attorneys, underrepresented racial and ethnic lawyers, LGBTQ+ lawyers, and attorneys with disabilities for hiring opportunities, leadership and governance roles, equity partner promotions, and formal client pitch opportunities.
